The worst passwords 2017 list is interesting and the ‘how secure is my password’ tool is really useful to help see how to better choose passwords. I'm going to share these links by email with the people I support. The three words idea and shortening a phrase ideas to arrive at better passwords are new to me and also very useful to share with folks. In fact I will share most of this badge with the folks I support as they do tend to worry a bit about getting passwords right which can be a real barrier to trying such as online management of money, online banking etc which is becoming ever more problematic as more and more banks are closing in this rural area. The app permissions information I am going to have to look into more as when I check apps I’ve never heard of and cant see on my devices are mentioned and the My Permissions app wants me to pay for the support they provide to make myself safe. I’m not so sure about this and am confused about why apps I do not see on my machines are mentioned.
Its good to be reminded about updates altering settings to default and this is something I will also build into my repertoire of friendly advice to my supported folks. Yes, personally I’ve always been wary of these Facebook games people quite innocently invite me to share with lots more others. I often feel like a damp squid not joining in, but I really am too busy to be bothered with any hassle that may come back to me. Some folks get really quite fired up with some of these share things but again my advice to the folks I support will be to play safe and careful with what they share online.
The video from Metropolitan Police is great! I never knew all this! I find mobile checking of my banking etc so handy when out and about so I’ll have to rethink this. Its so handy to just face recognition myself straight into something familiar so I guess it is for others too. I will have to spread the word, share this video, encourage all the folks I support to complete this whole badge with me!!
